How can I get my cowboy boots to stop squeaking?

They’re Lucchese boots, and are very nice, but when I walk, the leather sole seems to be rubbing with the heel somehow and creating a squeaking noise every time I take a step. It’s making me alter the way I walk to compensate for the squeak, which in turn is giving me shin splints. Any advice on how I can remedy this?
